I know, I know, I really have issues. But at least I own it—and want to change. Kinda.
Ryen Blake and I have so much in common it’s painful. If I wasn’t so jealous of her, I could probably admit I loved her and thought she was beautiful. But high school drama still haunts every woman, so I’ll stand at a distance and glare when she’s cuter than I’ll ever be. Because really, no matter how hard I try, she’ll always win.
Ryen loves to paint her fingernails. So do I.
Ryen loves to get dressed up. So do I.
Ryen reads in solitude and dreams of princes on white horses. So do I.
Ryen laughs out loud and dances in the car. So do I.
Ryen is highly emotional and very dramatic. So am I.
Ryen loves hugs and kisses. So do I.
Ryen cries in the morning when she doesn’t like her outfit. So do I.
Ryen feels like her world is falling apart over the smallest hiccup. So do I.
Ryen needs chronic affirmation and perpetual thumbs up. So [cough, cough] do I.
Ryen is in love with Matthew Olthoff. So I am.

What I’ve failed to mention is Ryen is my step-daughter/diva extraordinaire who will beat me in Cute Department on her worst day. I just can’t win, people?!
So I’m admitting before you that I haven’t graduated high school, I’m still a jealous little teenager, and I need more prayer than philandering politician in church! I know, I know, I really have issues. But at least I own it—and want to change. Kinda. 😉

My dear sweet sister, I praise God that He hs revealed this to you. I’ve been there and it is NOT pretty. When kids come, we realize how selfish we are, how immature we can be, and how childish we are. Tantrums come and we start manipulting… However, you have a godly husband, a godly father and God himself ready, willing, and able to make you who you are to be.. A godly mother.. So I will continue to pray for you in that area.. and no, you cannot blame prayers when “things” happen 😉 haha…
oh and I’m praying for God to give you tha ability to mother, nurture, care, guide, provide, and lead those two little, precious babies He’s given you… now, if HE choses to give you other babies.. it’s all HIM.. 😉

Ryen can dream about princes on white horses, but you don't have to dream anymore-you have your's!! I think I've mentioned it before, but I'm recommending to all my friends who interact with girls (students) or have daughters of their own to read Beth Moore's "So Long Insecurity, You've Been a Bad Friend to Us." Lots of funny stories in there but an overarching message of the need for confident, courageous women! 🙂 You rock your step-mom roles girl!

There's really only one person in the whole world that inspires jealousy in my heart…my sister. If I allow myself to wallow, I get consumed with 'she's prettier than me, skinnier than me, cooler than me…', and right then, in THAT instant I do become the uglier one.
Jealousy looks good on NO ONE. Thankfully, when we aspire to emulate Christ's love there's no room for jealousy!
