The real me.
The real me laughs loud, hugs hard, loves deep.
The real me is without makeup, without care, without consequence.
The real me is frightened and fearful and functioning under unwarranted grace.
The real me is simply complicated.
The real me appears in control, but knows chaos rules.
The real me strives for perfection, but fails believing the delusion.
The real me teaches about a faithful God, but wavers in faith of His promises.
The real me needs a friend, a savior, a redeemer.
The real me is broken and perferated and ugly and empty.
The real me desires to be accepted in spite of failures, known in spite of fear, loved in spite of me.
The real me believes there is a real you. I’ve spoken about keepin’ it real many times before on the blog, but Mike Foster and the crew at People of the Second Chance have started the #RealMe campaign for Twitter and facebook sites. And it’s rad. The challenge is to change all glamor shots and replace them with the real us. No pretenses, no photoshop, no StarShots. The real you. Go check out their site. It’s rad.
So, the question remains: who is the real you?
As hard as it is, keep being honest with yourself and with others!
There is an awesome book called Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Already Taken!
Totally recommend it!
Cudos to you for being such a beautiful inspiration to me and so many others.
I miss you.
Thank you for encouraging women to be comfortable in their skin! I appreciate your efforts and Mike Fosters.
Better for everyone to know the real me upfront then to find out later it was all a facade! Beautiful post, B! Always easier to be around someone real and completely aware of who they are in Christ rather than believing they are someone they are not! Its all because of Jesus…ALL!!
I don’t know about the real me…but I’m REALLY laughing at this last picture!
Since the work injury, its difficult for me to be “made up” to cover all of my imperfections..physical ones at least. Ive been forced to look at myself via the real me, makes me want and desire to change, change my outer appearance, not only for my appearance, but for health reasons.
Im goofie, moody, selfish, bad tempered, sentimental, loving giving, ugly at times. The real me.

as a girl still in my teens its so refreshing to see a Godly woman willing to reveal herself without the “perfect face” on- literally, and spiritually…

The real you is beautiful! You are a bold witness of the Lord. A blessing to me, thank you for your blogs, honesty, wisdom, and unwavering love of Jesus.

Mon
The real you happens to also be courageous to have posted that last picture up! But I still love the real you! Can’t say that I always love the real me because the more I ask the Lord to search my heart and reveal the real me… um…well, its ugly! But I also know that I’m a work in progress… thank God for His saving grace and His commitment to continue until He’s done with me (Phil 1:6). 😉
Thank you for being honest. I’m not sure I’d have the comfortability of doing this because of my job and persona. I appreciate the honesty!
Keep blogging.
B you are BOLD!! Just wanted you to know that you are beautiful with & without make-up. I’m blessed and inspired by the real you.
love this post…
the real me struggles with seeing the good parts of the real me…no problem see the bad…something I have to work on:)
glad u always share the real u with us!
The real you is just fabulous!
Thanks for this post and telling us about the RealMe Campaign – it’s so up Wonderfully Made’s alley.
Love ya girl.
The real me always says the wrong thing, does bad when she’s trying to do good, is lacking in patience and forgets how to pick her battles.
But the real me is also geniune and honest. The real me means what she says. The real me is deeply caring and deeply loyal even when it doesn’t come out that way.
The real me is a glutton when it comes to food. The real me can do without any monetary luxuries for months.
I always find it intriguing how I am such a contradiction.
*I agree with Matt…you are beautiful without make up!! Great post…one of my favs!!
-fortunate to really know & love the “real” you! j
The real me…
-really needs constant attention and hugs and someone to lookout for me in spite of the “independent woman” vibe I put out.
-wants to do something great, to be something great …even though I can look in the eyes of my husband and son and know that I already have.
-wants to know God with all my heart, but is too scared to give it to anyone, even it’s Creator.
Wow, this was brave. I’d never do this because it’s too much for me to handle 🙂 Baby steps, right Bianca?
I can’t wait to check out Mike Foster. This stuff sounds good……
Love the real you!! =) Beautiful!! May God continue to bless His beautifully and wonderfully made child!!
I’m so going to do a post on this, this weekend!! =)The real me has issues!! LOL 😉 A true work in progress!!
Wow, Bianca great post!
The real self should stand out, no matter how others perceive you. People should accept you for who you are as a person.
My eyes…my POOR LITTLE EYES!!!!!!! 😉

the real me loves music a little too much.
While reading this blog two songs come to mind. Just wanted to share the lyrics with all of you. 🙂

i don’t have a song to sing to you
i don’t have a melody for you
maybe it’s the emptiness that you want me to bring
cause it’s the real me
cause without you i am nothing
it’s the real me
cause without you i am nothing
should i have a song for you
that describes the way i feel inside
maybe words will lessen the way of my love for you
cause it’s the real me
cause without you i am nothing
it’s the real me
cause without you i am nothing
The Real Me-Natalie Grant
Foolish heart looks like we’re here again
same old game of plastic smile
don’t let anybody in
hiding my heartache, will this glass house break
how much will they take before i’m empty
do i let it show, does anybody know?
chorus:
but you see the real me
hiding in my skin, broken from within
unveil me completely
i’m loosening my grasp
there’s no need to mask my frailty
cause you see the real me
painted on, life is behind a mask
self-inflicted circus clown
i’m tired of the song and dance
living a charade, always on parade
what a mess i’ve made of my existence
but you love me even now
and still i see somehow
but you see the real me
hiding in my skin, broken from within
unveil me completely
i’m loosening my grasp
there’s no need to mask my frailty
cause you see the real me
wonderful, beautiful is what you see
when you look at me
you’re turning the tattered fabric of my life into
a perfect tapestry
i just wanna be me
but you see the real me
hiding in my skin, broken from within
unveil me completely
i’m loosening my grasp
there’s no need to mask my frailty
cause you see the real me
and you love me just as i am
wonderful, beautiful is what you see
when you look at me
