So after reading all of your comments from Monday’s blog, there wasn’t much else I could say. No, like really, your stories and comments pretty much handled the thesis I was going to pitch today:

Purity is—and should be—relegated to all aspects of who we are.

As I explain in the vlog [and what you all alluded to in your comments], purity isn’t just not having sex before your married. [As if once the ring is on it’s a sexual free-for-all and we can become hippies running around at Woodstock screaming, Make love, not war! Whatevs.] No, purity should permeate all aspects of our life.

Why? We are tripartite beings [see 1 Thessalonians 5:23]. We aren’t just a body. We aren’t just a heart. We aren’t just a soul. Therefore, if we choose to claim the title of Christian, we accept the responsibility of emulating Christ. Like Paul said, Imitate me, for I imitate Christ.

We don’t stay pure so we can have some elusive first sexual encounter that rocks our celestial worlds. That ambition and dogma needs to be chucked out the window! Our ambition to be pure and holy is because GOD IS PURE AND HOLY. Period. The end. [1 Peter 1:15-16]

There are major benefits to purity. Absolutely. But to focus on one aspect of purity while negating the others is a disservice to our self and to others.
