When speaking about Jesus or God or church, I sometimes feel like a QVC host trying to pitch a great deal or sell an unnecessary gift to someone who doesn’t need it.. As in, For today and today only, you can receive God! That’s right, for our friends watching at home, we offer you today the free gift of salvation. But it doesn’t end there! We are also throwing in the power of the Holy Spirit. [Audience clap] But act now! This offer won’t last.
I’m not a saleswoman. In fact, I’d be horrible in sales because I don’t have the patience to convince someone they need something. But in talking about the wholistic approach to our being, the soul cannot be neglected. The unidentifiable, unlocatable soul is part and parcel to our being. To neglect this aspect would be to neglect a crucial piece to the totality of our being.
