Dorothy said it best: There’s no place like home. I may not live in a mansion or drive a fancy car, but I love my life. Not because it’s fabulous or fierce, but because it’s my own.
On days like this, I’m grateful to do what God has called me to do. Ambiguous and unsure in nature, my job is to return to my country, my state, my city, my church and be like Christ. What that looks like on a day-to-day basis is as unclear as what Lady Gaga will look like next week, but both provide for interesting amusement.
I will be serving up the Scandalous Message of James tonight like a sweaty cook in a southern diner. If you’re around and want to tune in LIVE via the web, click HERE at 7:00pm PST. Brad Hooks will be the musical guest to kick off the evening, so arrive early to register and get your homework guide. Yes, I said homework. Don’t hate me 😉
For those who have emailed or commented about recordings of the series, we will be posting them onto iTunes no later than Thursday.
Lastly before I go offline and prep for this evening, remember that inactivity, apathy towards change, or sheer laziness will keep us in a vicious cycle. It’s time to let our faith take flight! If you’re down for the ride, this journey will challenge you to do hard things, answer tough questions, and be the Christian we are all called to be.
What is God calling you to do? Are you the Christian God wants you to be? Write it down or leave a comment so we can pray for each other and spur every one of us towards good works and hard things.
Bianca,
I have no internt at home. I live in the middle of nowhere and no int. is provided here. I usually communicate through phone. I cannot express how bummed out I am 🙁 and I love homework! What do suggst?
I can't believe this is my third summer series! I'm so EXCITED cause ya know James is my Bible Boyfriend! Always praying for you…I know God will be using you to change more lives!
Did you say "do hard things, Challenge, and change??!!" I'm scared!!
Write. He's calling me to write. And oh, how that hits at the very core of my "but how will that really work? and what do You want me to write? and….what if I'm not good enough and what if…." stuff.
It's time to let our faith take flight. I love that line. That's an awesome one.
I love the adventure that is the life we walk with God. I truly do.
I'll be praying for you and all in the class. Pray for me too? 😉
Love!
deb
I have some big dreams on my heart… I can't wait to encouraged through this series on James!! I am ready to step out in faith and be completely in love with Jesus and not afraid to do the hard things:)
i've been checking the blog all morning to see you if you mention sign-ups at the door. sounds like a go? Don't hate the last minute CCMers. Have mercy on me for having 2 small children and a special husband!
Mare, I don't think that there are sign ups at the door but don't quote me. I'd call the church to make sure, friend! Hope you're able to make it in! 😉
From the bulletin:
THE SCANDALOUS MESSAGE OF JAMES – Summer Bible Series for Women. For six weeks, James is going to radically change perspectives, shift culture, and push complacent Christians to be wiser, kinder, and more benevolent. Be part of the movement and sign up for this series taught by Bianca Juarez starting Tuesday, July 6th and concluding August 10th. Cost is $20.00 and includes all studies, guest worship, and study guide written by Bianca. Sign up at the Women’s Info Center. Last day to sign up is Sunday, July 4th. No sign ups at the door!
thank you Ms. Renay. I did 🙂
Hey Maribel, I happen to know a few women who serve at the Women’s Info and they informed me that they will be taking sign ups at the door (I’m signing up today as well :/)
Can't wait to hear it…..I SOOOO need it…although I will probably do the itunes thing because i have a three yr old who will not let me sit and watch online…
will be praying for you…
God is calling me to say bye-bye to 3 enemies: me, myself, & I. For real, I think I've stunted my own growth because I can't humble and deny myself. I need help and I'm excited for this study because…well, it's just needed. Prayin' for a heart transplant (spiritual, of course), a mind transformation, and a spiritual over haul! See you tonight, B! 😉
I couldn't have said it better my friend! Ditto on everything that you said.. Cant wait.. Just what the doctor ordered! Well that and no lifting and driving.. hahaha
yay for itunes! looking forward to this teaching 🙂
It seems to me that what He is calling me to do is to actively (versus complacently) surrender. I don't know what my calling is beyond that. I don't know what my gifts are. I don't have a vision. And it is scary – especially under a pressure to plan a career, get married, have children, to take charge of life… I refuse. He WILL lead. He said so.
No, I am not the Christian He wants me to be. I know I will never arrive, but for now I am just so full of myself that it is sad. Last weekend was especially difficult. That dying to myself is painful, mundane, and so daily. I make a step in a right direction and then fall back so badly. But G-d will finish His work! I am not where I used to be already!
*************
I am so glad you are back!! Being at home is the best thing!
I imagine how in His timing it will feel being really at home at the place He prepared!
Can't wait for James-jewels.
excited for tonight B
BTW bringing a girlfriend of mine to take part in this series:)
Welcome back! I can't wait to see how your trip informs your study of James… can't wait 🙂 blessings on your study tonight!
Girl, you brought it tonight and I loved watching it online. I definitely except James' challenge and am ready to live radically and scandalously for Jesus Christ!! I'm so excited to watch again next week and just grow more. Thank you for doing this!! Truly, God bless you!
Okay, so I'm totally bummed that I spaced and missed the first day of your series! Is there a way to catch up? I tried going onto http://ccmtb.com/event/womens-summer-series-0 <———– here, but I still wasn't sure how to register. It might just be the operator (me), but I was wondering if you would be so kind as to help me. 🙂 I'd GREATLY appreciate it!
If you'd rather email instead of post another comment that works too.
Thank you!
Can’t wait to catch it on iTunes!! Love u
Sweeeet, it'll be on itunes? Thank you, Jesus! Please post the link.
YAY! I love James.
So I watched it online – but no homework 🙁 How do we get the homework so those of us who can't be there can do it? Thanks!

Cool blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A theme like yours with a few simple tweeks would really make my blog shine. Please let me know where you got your design. Kudos
