The sun was asleep as the moon began to retire beneath the horizon at 5:15am. Streets were empty with the exception of a few cars at red lights. I yawned and thought about the dreaded workout I was about to face and mentally listed the things urging to be completed.
I was startled as I saw a Hispanic man in light colored jeans and a flannel work shirt sprint across the intersection as he held onto his baseball cap with his right hand held to his head. He waved his left arm wildly and yelled out words I couldn’t hear as I sat in my black leather seat with my car windows rolled up.
He chased his bus frantically trying to stop the driver from pulling away.
I watched the bus brake lights come on as the man in the flannel work shirt and light jeans jumped through the double doors. The light turned green and we each pulled away driving in opposite directions.
My mind flashed back to watching my dad chase his bus on mornings we made him late because of extra kisses, extra coffee sips, or extra stories. He trekked into downtown every morning to work for his family. A family who didn’t have a car. A family who didn’t own a home. A family who lived on hopes, dreams, and divine aspirations.
I swallowed the lump in my throat and silently prayed for the man who chased his bus. I prayed for his family who hopefully gave him extra kisses, extra coffee, and extra stories as he promised them a hope of a better life. I sat in my black leather seat with rolled up car windows and asked God to never let me forget.
God, never let me forget the moments when we held onto the belief that you were our faster than buses, sweeter than kisses, and more extraordinary than stories told by fathers. Amen.
Aw that is beautiful! It's amazing what God can do through one person willing to accept His divine plan and will for their life. You my friend, are one of those people. Thanks for futhering the Kingdom of God! 🙂 Great post!! Love you lots, Bianca!! Have a blessed day!
Is it your goal to make me cry everyday? I think it might be.
This was especially touching.
I've had that same conversation with myself many times when I see people waiting for the bus… or walking the streets, or whatever it is.
Thanks for the reminder.
And thanks a lot for making me cry.
Again.
what diandra said… i love how you see the world… it is beautiful.
wow.. that touched my heart…sometimes we think we need to move to help, when praying for someone is probably the most important thing we can do.
OMG made me cry!!! great post!!! I dont know what it is but I always cry when I see people waiting for busses at the bus stop.. No lie! I have for years.. it makes me sad.. I know I have issues!!!
So very true and so very well written! Never forget where you came from… ever!!!

Gabriel and I agree that our bestest memories ever were riding the bus! we went evrywhere! including school and work. it was hard but we will never forget the rides to the beach and missing our stop on the way home cause we fell asleep!
Wow B, That was a great post and shows that there are still guys out there to make and take those sacrifices for the love of there family. I remember my Adopted Dad walking to the train station at 4:30 AM every morning rain or shine and walking in the door by 6pm every night from work and do the honorable thing for his family. For Kids that were not even his yet he worked and loved us just as we were. Now I am seeing my daughter w/a kid who has NO desire , vision, or yearning to go do the hard things to provide for his son:( It brakes my heart for both him and my grandson. I know I have gone off on a tangent but I simply ask you and Matt and your bloggers would lift up this young man named "Steven Garcia" in your prayers along with My daughter "Antoinette" and grandson "Aiden" and their little family. Please make mention of them in your prayers becuase I believe in the power of prayer and God's perfect Love and desire of good will for His children.
B again your great, Love you and totally praying for you and Matt and all that encoumpases you two becoming One!
Mad <3….Glo
Amen
I think this week as you prepare for the wedding you will also reflect on your life, which is a good thing. Take it all in and enjoy!!Be blessed and spend some time with your parents, crawl in bed with them and embrace them Like you did when you were little.
The night before my wedding I slept in my parents bed with them 🙂
so sweet, Bi. It brought tears to my eyes as well. I love you…and your daddy!!
Wow. So beautifully said. Thank you.
thank you for writing this.
through out the years, me and my son have gone from having extremely plenty to almost extreme poverty by sleeping on the floors at friends house with sleeping bags coz we were close to being homeless….now we have a bunkbed we share and a room to sleep in. God has been extremely faithful every step of the way, but sometimes it gets tiring.
as a struggling single mom, sometimes my heart cry is "God when will our financial situation get better?". your post just reminded me that God sees and He knows and my latter will indeed be greater because He is always, always faithful
Nice post to remind us of our roots and God's divine timing to bless us beyond measure.
beautifully written! 😉
B I love this… thanks for the reminder and tears!
Amen 🙂
