Being a professional woman who is passionate about life, love, and the pursuit of happiness is difficult when trying to balance societal pressures and ward off the tick of the biological clock. Pursuing what God has called you to so in your “season of singleness” while attending weddings and baby showers of friends is a conundrum. I know. I’ve been there before.
You’re happy. You’re sad. You’re loved, yet alone all at the same time. A conundrum indeed.
I’m a woman who is traditional in ideals, but biblical in practicality. So if match-making is a spiritual gift, call me Yenta and hand me a resume! Lindsey Nobles has become a friend of mine through a series of colliding incidents and now, a sovereignly assembled mentoring group through 3DM.
Mentoring and doing life together requires a level of depth not many can weather. To have people pry into your life and ask hard questions causes waves of insecurity to crash on the shores of self doubt and fear. But as the sea faithfully reaches the shore, so are those friends who will crash into your life and daily repeat the process of affirming who you are while challenging the things you do.
So I’m challenging the conventional dating system and playing Yenta for Lindsey. Since it’s Friday, I’ve attached a video blog (vlog). But in light of “hookin’ a sister up,” I’m attaching some things to know about Lindsey, and how YOU can help find her a date.
Lindsey loves meeting people and making connections while living out fully la joie de vivre with friends and family in Nashville, Tennessee. She’s smart, sassy, spicy like the salsa she enjoys eating. Anyone who can hold a child in Guatemala, run a half marathon, travel the nation, annnnnd find time to blog is amazing to me. And let’s not forget the fact that she’s talented and totally available.
Here’s where YOU come in: If you know anyone meets the following criteria, let me know. If you have any words of advice or encouragement, feel free to leave it here. Come what may, pray she know she’s loved by God and in this season for a reason.
- Man who LOVES Jesus (this was my requirement)
- Has a job (this was also my requirement)
- Kind (this is a big one for her)
- Sense of humor and wit (someone to make her laugh til she cries)
- Physically active, but not SuperJock (ya know, he’ll run but follow it up with pizza)
- Strong in character (he can’t be easily pushed over, yet sensitive enough to know when to stop)
- At least 5’11” (so she didn’t ask for height, but I like the number seven so I added a seventh requirement)
bianca, you crack me up!! π hahahah i love following your blog π
Um, didn't we discuss this A YEAR AGO? : ) Glad to see your Yenta biz has officially begun!
I'm a slow mover. Seriously.
If this yenta thing works, get ready, Jen. I have a list of women who need some of my love potion π
Well speed up! I just turned 34 yesterday and aint gettin any younger. ; )
Oh my goodness… this is hilarious! "Dude, I'm American…" ROTFL… What an awesome vlog!!!
Can I submit myself? It'll be easy because a few weeks ago, I discovered that Lindsey and I have the same requirements for a man… Half your work is done. ; )
Haha! This is awesome. Way to go!
Good luck & Godspeed!
Thanks, KC! Good luck with the children's fitness facility! [I've checked out your blog before]
If you know of any great guys, let me know!
Thanks! We'll see what comes of it. I'm a big idea guy and trying to work on the follow through.
Is it bad that I'm surprised when I find out someone professional like yourself has actually read my stuff? π
Most of the guys I know are already taken, but I'll keep an eye out.
for all the single girls – "BAD BOYS – may be hot, but so is hell" good advise from @biancajuarez http://ow.ly/355s6
that cracked me up as well…
Love this video, Bianca! Requirement #1 is my fav! I feel so blessed to be married to a man who truly loves Jesus. He makes my day every day and is so worth all the struggles associated with having sorted through the Mr. Wrongs of my past. I also love your requirements for Lindsey! She is awesome and definitely deserves the best! I don't know of anyone in the Nashville area that is that tall–haha, but I will def be praying!
Thanks Lindsey! And I agree the height requirement might be a problem in Nashville… π
sign me up for the love potion!! π
Bianca that was adorable. Great advice. Loved #1 because there is a difference between loving Jesus and calling yourself a Christian. Lindsey is blessed to have you as a friend. I think your Yenta skills will be getting sharpened here. Any man would be lucky to get Lindsey so I wish you the best in your search for her.
I am so blessed π
I have been a reader for awhile and really appreciate your heart. I have never commented before but just have to on this one. As someone who has been happily and passionately married for 11 years (we were married very young) I have to say that this list is absolutely right on. Number one was my (very involved) mothers first question to all potential suitors; her list of "Mama's questions" became infamous in our circle. Loving and knowing Jesus is more important in a mate than anything else partly because you know that when your hero messes up you have a Daddy that he is accountable to that will take up your defense in ways that can not be ignored. Keep up the good work … well done!
Where are all the men's comments??? π
I was just gonna ask that myself!
AH! I LOVE it! Here comes the fire, Miss Bianca's got the matchsticks. Your vlog cracked me up. Preach it sista!
And some lucky guy is about to get his socks knocked off….! Go Lindsey!
She’s very cute but maybe she’s intimidating to guys. I’m married, but I want to give my two cents.
Is she vulnerable?
Is she willing to allow someone to lead her?
A man wants to know he bring something to the table. Maybe guys haven’t felt like she’s opened up to them. Is there a wall she’s holding up?
She seems great! I want only the best for her and all the single girls. Blessings!
i'm a self proclaimed match-maker in my head. in fact i call myself ms. p-harmony π
i'll be on the look out for ms lindsey.
whoomp whoomp!
btw…i've already "match-maked" 2 couples who are now happily married…so lindsey…you're in good hands =]
Wow…maybe you and Bianca need to go into "business" together?
Your shirt made Paul Bunyan proud today.
xxxo
This is awesome, Bianca! I hope you find some candidates for Lindsey. And if any of them don't connect with her, I live in Nashville too…feel free to send them my way:)
ur vlog discriminates against Vespa drivers…they don't have doors.
LV, I'd love to see you on a Vespa…
LV needs Jesus. Period, the end.
Annnnnnd he needs a woman who can knock some sense into him π
Don't worry, LV. You're on my list too… even if you don't to be set up!
PS I'm the flower girl at BOTH of your weddings!
This helps me remember that living life with others is always better!!! I need to start voicing to others around me that I wouldn't mind being hooked up! As long as they meet the above criteria! Thanks!
Shay, My coaching group, that Bianca references above, encouraged me to enlist friends in "my search." So I wrote my friends an email…that felt very uncomfortable, but at the same time very liberating…and I have a feeling it unleashed A LOT of things. I'd encourage you to help others help you. I plan on blogging about it soon…
That would be very uncomfortable. I usually do not like to be "set up", but I have noticed that I am starting to think that I can do it on my own…not good. Can't wait for the blog! You are so encouraging! Thank, Shay
Love this post and could not agree with you more! You're pretty cute for giving your friend Lindsay some "ink" to help her find a match π
I know the PERFECT guy! π Send me an email!
AWESOME!!! What's your email? Better yet, send it here: bianca@inthenameoflove.org
great blog B!! i have some to add, i just don't have an hour to write them all. π
First time reader … I loved this! Especially #1 – Until both parties fall in love with Christ, they cannot truly love one another. π
Welcome to the blog, Chanel! Not only do I love your name, I love that you agree with our #1 requirement π
Haha, nice!! You're an awesome friend!
Just one question , why does she need help to find a man ??? And I ask with no ill intent . Unless I'm misunderstanding something here ???
Part of being friends and being in community is helping each other during all seasons. Lindsey's been single for a while and openly asked for help in filter through some guys.
I take great care of my friends and family and want NOTHING but the best for Linds. If we can help her find someone, awesome.
If you're asking about why she NEEDS a man, she doesn't. But she's open to the possibility and excited about the options π Make sense? Hope so π
Haha! That is so sweet, Bianca! I also like the number 7. π Have a lovely Saturday!
uhm??
LOVE you sister!
First time here, I think. Love your blog, have bookmarked it, and will be back for sure! I live in Canada, so I doubt I'd be able to help find Lindsey the perfect guy. In fact…I'm still looking for my own – and I think I'm a lot older than she is, so it's even harder at my age to find a man.
You are Hilarious Bianca!! Love this vlog!!!!!
Oh.My! What have I been missing? I found your blog via Sarah Markley's blog. You are being added to my blog role for this quote from a fellow commenter: "BAD BOYS – may be hot, but so is hell." (Not just because of this quote, but, it made me laugh out loud while here at work.) i can't watch the video, but I will when I get home.
Thanks Bianca for not forgetting us single peeps.
Well, what if the way that God has in mind to bring you a spouse is through some random internet connection?
Unless you are saying that you should just sit at home and God will have your future spouse ring the doorbell every single time.
There is nothing wrong being active in God's plans for our life.
You forgot the 8th requirement for Lindsey' man – He must live in Nashville! I won't let you steal her away from me, Yenta! π
Just recently found your blog and have enjoyed getting acquainted. As a 30 something single girl, who's striving to enjoy this season of life I got a kick out of this post. Let me know if you find anyone for Lindsey, sign me up to be your next matchmaking guinea pig…girl needs some help! π Blessings for a good Lord's Day.
In life each of us must sometimes play the fool.
