Allegedly I’m dramatic. I don’t know why people think that, but they do. I see life in technicolor and I live accordingly đ
You can imagine what my life is like when God asks me to be patient—arms flaling, loud sobbing, head pounding on desk. I need to show God my utter and complete frustration in His silence. But after reading and teaching through James 5:7-18 yesterday, I realized patience is part of maturing.
There’s some unstated cosmic rule barring anyone from being a hero without enduring patiently in the face of suffering. Job, Jacob, Joseph, and Jesus all labored patiently before seeing the fruit of their heroic labor. (If you’re wondering why I chose all names with the letter J, it’s because I like alliteration. Duh.) But as we learned in our final study, we can’t be heroes until we develop courage.
Here’s a clip from our final session of the Scandalous Message of James.
If you’re like me, then consider yourself dramatic. But dramatic as you may be, don’t quit. Be patient and enduring. There will be a harvest.
If you didn’t catch the lesson or the video with comments from blog readers and James students, I’ll be posting it by 2:00pm PST. Check back then đ
To those who joined online or attended in person, I pray we take the lessons from James and make them real in our lives. All in favor, say aye.
