In the Chemrec slums of Nairobi my heart was stolen by a boy named Freddie. Every face I ran into in the slum was beautiful, but Freddie had this thing. You know, the thing Simon Cowell refers to as the X-Factor. He’s sassy and funny and adorable and has skin like liquid chocolate.
I could seriously eat him.
We hugged, danced, played games, and chased each other while the team built new walls for his school. If you’re thinking I should’ve been hammering nails and hanging walls, you’re right. But when you’re as cute at Freddie, who cares what your suppose to be doing, right?! Riiiiight.
Matt thinks my maternal desires have kicked in. He must be drinking unbottled water.
how sweet!! Thanks for posting pics, look at their smiles!! Love you ๐
It's late!!! What are you doing up? Think about the baby ๐
I miss you ๐
Bianca,
These pictures are so moving. I was just made aware that an acquaintance I know committed suicide. With a heavy heart, I can't help but wonder "what if I had had the courage to love out loud?" Thank you for doing so.
-Cindy
I'm so sorry about your loss. I'm praying for you…
B, the pictures are too cute! Looks like you’re enjoying Africa. I like what Matt said, ” your maternal desires” that made me laugh. Keep loving on those people.
Love you, momma B ๐
Oh my sweet, Leggie! I love you.
Thank you for thinking of me ๐ See you Tuesday at the study!
Matt!!! Stay away from the water!! B, stay away from those maternal desires ๐
Love you guys!
Hahahahaha! Jack, he's really into having a kid now. He said he saw how I was loving and kissing Freddie so much and said, "B, I saw Jesus in you today as you loved that child."
Gaaaaaaaaaaaah?! What am I going to do with that?
"What are you gonna do with that???" Girl, you and Matt are gonna have GORGEOUS babies together and you'll have your very own "Freddie Moments" each and every day!! And with a hubby-to-be like Matt, it'll be easier than you think!!
Love this conversation.
Oh yea … looks like the maternal instincts have kicked in. WooHoo!!!
Love the pics!
I LOVE Africa … my heart is there with you … lovin' on the children …

What a blessing to be used by Him, Bianca! I'm sure your heart will be overflowing with stories of God's love and provision. Freddie is adorable…the meaning of His name means "peace ruler or peace keeper"…I'm sure God's peace is a well to those around him!
Praying for a safe return!

Hey Bianca I know this I’d a little random but I was wondering if Halloween is bad, like in general and for christians?? Maybe you could vlog about it idk!!!
I'm at work and in tears! Beautiful!
I just found your blog and I'm catching up on all the wonderful things you've had to say recently and had to comment on this post because my heart is in Africa! My husband and I adopted a baby girl from Africa and we can't wait to go back and bring home a big brother for our kids. Your experience with Freddie reminds me of one I had with a boy while we were in Africa picking up our daughter. If there would have been room in my suitcase, he'd be here with us now! God bless you.
You are wearing the NEXT LEVEL Shirt in Africa! Awesome!
