What living with the Mobilization Missions Pastor looks like:
This is when I died a slow, convicting death. While I was dreaming up European vacations to top PDiddy’s extravagance, he’s handing out alms to those in need. My socialist/communist/holy spirit of a husband is more concerned with evening out the distribution of wealth then the car I want.Matt: Did you know the lotto is up to 453 million dollars?
Me:Β No way! Wow, maybe we should play. Come on, it’s only one dollar!
Matt: Β Why? What what you do if you won 453 million dollars?
Me: Oh muh gah! I would first pay off our debt. Then I would buy a house—by the beach. Of course I’d tithe, you know that. Then I’d buy a new car and I’d buy my dad his dream car, maybe take a trip around the world with you, me, and the kids. Then go on an island vacation with just me and you… rrrrrawr! Β We can give money to our friends in need and maybe start a college fund for kids like me. And then… [my list continued on]
Matt: [silence]
Me: Doesn’t that sound like fun?
Matt: Umm hmmm, yeah.
Me: Why? What would you do?
Matt: I’d take all the money and help fund other people’s dreams who can’t afford them.
Me: [silence]
Matt: God has given us so much and it would be amazing to help other people Β get what they dream of.
And this right here? This is why God had me marry a missions pastor!!! π
Is it weird that, when I read your tweet regaarding it, I actually thought vaguely the same as Matt and that when I read your blog I felt the need to ask you to make it known to Matt that I have dreams, just incase you do win?!!
You and Matt are like two peas in a pod! I don’t think I’m going to play because I’m selfish and I know I’d opt for a fancy car, but I hope he plays. God as my witness, I know that man will give tons of it away. And I’ll make sure you get on that list π
Hey, I never said I wouldn’t be more effective at helping people achieve their dreams if I lived in America and drove a black 67 ford galaxie! π
Hey now, hey now. The Word says God is the giver of all good gifts and if He let a Christian win the lottery, there would be nothing unbiblical about buying a car and THEN giving it to everyone in need. But, just in case in happens, you can put me on that dream funding list;)
Hahahahahaha!!! That was awesome.
SO I’m more like you, Bianca! I have SO many things I’d love to use that money for if I won, AFTER paying tithe of course! π I would also save a great deal of it, open a ROTH IRA…help family if they’re in need…pay off ALL my debt starting with my college loan…go on a shopping spree (hehe)…and a the list goes ON! π
hahaha! id do both b! help other and buy dad a car (;
I love you, papa! Miss you tons!
” I have a dream…” put me on the list if Matt wins… And well if you win, we all know how that’s going down π haha jk
Somehow I don’t think it’s true you would not spread the wealth if you won….
I’m not going to play, but I encouraged Matt to play one card. π I’ll tell him you have a dream too!
I think this is timely!
Yesterday or the day before I drove by a gas station with a huge lotto amount!
It is so frustrating when I think about it..because I start dreaming about how much I could do with it! I dream about starting a school that would house the homeless and help them get an education and draw close to God..I dream and dream and dream.
Then, reality hits and I think, “God, you are able to bless me with wisdom to make money. Please help me be patient.”
It is hard for me because I see my urgent needs and how badly I want to help others and feel the pain of not having a consistent source of income for 10 years. It always ends up discouraging me when I think about the lotto.
But, God is so good and has so much for us. We just need to keep pressing in and seeking His Kingdom.
I think that God wants me to gain wealth like he wants me to train people how to make it. So, if he’d just hand me over 300K or more, I’d have no testimony of how I overcame poverty through his step by step guidance and favor and provision. If I’d just win it, I may not have the tools God wants me to have, so I can to help others.
Because what am I truly saying if I just give people money, ask me and I can provide. But if they seek God, they will see Him.
No but for real Matt.. what’s your real answer!? π Joking
That’s incredible. And God knows just what we need in order to keep us balanced. You- to show him a fun side of life, and Matt to be the constant reminder of how blessed we are, and how much of a blessing we could be to others!
I love that the lottery does allow people to dream about If I Prospered, what then!?!
I’d want to help all the missionaries around the world. My first-hand experience with my own son – who is a missionary in a very faraway place – makes my heart bleed for the sacrifices those that are called to the field make in their own lives. So secretly, if I’d prosper I’d use some of the money to release me of my debt so that I could use most of the money to support missionaries who are called and who fully follow Christ. And, then there is the poor and the homeless and the widow, and, and, and…… That IS my dream. π
I loved reading this. Thanks for sharing. π
I dont understand the Scantron. What’s the connection?
Love this and I can totally picture this conversation happening…I am like you LOL
Hi there, i just wanted to drop you a line to say that i thoroughly enjoyed this particular post of yours, I have skimmed a few of your posts before but this one really stood out for me. I know that I am just a stranger to you but I figured you might appreciate the appreciation β Take care β and keep blogging.
You guys are tooooo funny!!!!! π If you had a reality show, I would totally watch it…and my Hubby is not a pastor and asked me the same question…his answer was better than mine also… Oyii… π lol. π
my husband would have said the same thing… he’s not a pastor but a certified financial planner with a heart for missions, sharing God’s love and helping those who just need a little push in the right direction. i on the other hand would love to show the children the world!
