Do you ever find yourself in a tragic situation and asked God, Why? Why is this happening to me?
For one moment, let’s imagine that God actually answered our question. Would His explanation change anything? The effects of the tragedy would still be with us, and the pain would be just as severe as it was before. What would we have learned?
When we ask God that question, I think the real questions we’re asking are: God, do You love me? Will You take care of me in my sorrow and pain? You won’t leave me alone, will You? Is it possible that, because we’re afraid God doesn’t truly care about us, we ask for explanations? What if we started saying things like, Lord, I believe. I don’t understand, and I’ll probably never grasp all the reasons bad things happen, but I know for certain that You love me and are with me, always.
It’s been said it takes more faith to go through something victoriously than to be delivered from it. Put your faith in God and you’ll come out stronger on the other side. At least that’s what happened to all the people in the Bible… and I’ll follow their lead. 😉
hmm, interesting – I’m weird, obviously, but when I ask why, I think I’m just asking what the lesson is: you know, I’ll sit in the pain if you show me why. It’s easy in pain to feel God has abandoned us, as you say, but for me I guess I want proof he hasn’t by knowing the lesson. But then I guess that’s like cheating on a test……which, of course, I’m not ok with 😉
I’m reading this as I prepare to care for my hubby next week as he will have surgery for a vein deficiency in his leg he was already operated on a few years backon. Last Nov. I had surgery and its been one health matter after another. I have been a little sad and worried and I truly want to come out victorious so keep me in prayer
Thanks for posting.
Thank you for your words of encouragement
Sometimes you don`t want to know the “why?” because you know He’s going to answer with one word: “SIN!!!!”.
My sin caused hurts, troubles, pain. And you just feel like He’s gonna say “That’s WHY you’re experiencing _________.” (Fill in the blank) Wagging His finger at you…..
I have to remember that He can take that sin, forgive me, teach me, renew me, re mold me and heal me…and that He never wags His finger
